This ride welcomes the arrival of autumn with a leisurely jaunt up Mt Diablo via North Gate and Summit Rd to the Junction Ranger Station and to the Summit. Mt Diablo State Park North Gate Entrance Station to the Junction Ranger Station is 6.5 miles with an average grade of 6%.
North Gate Rd to Arroyo del Cerro Ranch:
North Gate Rd to Mount Diablo State Park Northewest Boundary:
North Gate towards the Burma Trailhead at 1000 feet:
The steepest section on North Gate Rd is about a quarter-mile stretch with 9-11% grades on the approach to the 1000′ elevation sign near Burma Road Trail to Camel Rock and a bit beyond.

Climbing up Mt Diablo to the Summit is one of my favorite Bay Area rides-I’ve probably blogged it more times than I can remember. The mountain changes with the seasons. “Happy Autumn!”
