This month’s local cycling adventure explores the country back roads along the small towns around the Russian River in Sonoma County and Pt Reyes National Seashore in Marin Counties.
Begin this four day tour by meandering under the redwoods along the Russian River to the quiet canyons and valleys from Duncans Mills to Freestone and Occidental. The second ride challenges you with a extremely hilly inland route north to Stewarts Point followed by 27 stunning miles along the rugged Sonoma Coastline to Jenner.
The second half of this trip heads south to Marin for a easy scenic jaunt from Pt Reyes Station to Nicasio and back. This cycling tour concludes with a spectacular ride around Pt Reyes National Seashore from Olema to Tomales Point. Enjoy cycling along the Historic Ranches and open dairy lands to Pierce Point Ranch and the Tule Elk Preserve.
A ride to the Pt Reyes Lighthouse is also a great addition to this trip. You can easily cut 20 miles by starting at Bear Valley Visitor Center.
