Morro Bay Estuary

This lovely, peaceful bayside community is the gateway to Montana de Oro State Park, one of the most spectacular oceanside parks in the country. The word “osos” means bear in Spanish and though you won’t find them roaming the streets anymore, Los Osos was named for the now-extinct California grizzly by the Spanish explorer Portola in the late 1500s. Morro Rock

Los Osos sits on the southern tidal estuary of Morro Bay, with a glassy bay, and an “eden” of feathered wildlife. With its mild climate and a friendly population of about 15,000, Los Osos today more than lives up to its earlier publicity. Perhaps one of the reasons people love Los Osos so much is that it a little off the beaten track. As nice as that is when you are looking for peace and quiet in a gorgeous, tranquil environment you do have to find your way there first! (http://www.losososbaywoodpark.org/)

Los Osos Valley

This bike and hike excursion explores the beautiful country back roads and hills around San Luis Obispo County from the bedroom community of Los Osos. We also had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with my nephew and his family. The hikes are all family-kids and dog friendly! Go and take the time to experience all that the Central Coast has to offer-from the valley and hills to the magnificent coastal towns and beaches!

Local Bike Shop: Baywood Cyclery at 2122 9th St #106, Los Osos, CA 943402 (805) 528-2453 Tues-Friday 10-5 Saturday 10-4

We recently downsized from our Rialta RV to a Eurovan Camper-less is more! We free-loaded and parked the Eurovan on the driveway at my nephew’s house in Los Osos.
