This ride heads out through Los Osos Valley for a climb up through the beautiful Irish Hills on Prefumo Canyon followed by a scenic stroll on the Bob Jones Trail to Avila Beach and Port San Luis. Roll back through Los Osos Valley for an additional climb up Turri Rd to Morro Bay before returning to Los Osos.
Head east on Los Osos Valley Rd for 8.8 miles through the rich agricultural farmlands and cattle ranches along Los Osos and Clark Valleys to San Luis Obispo.
The climb up Prefumo Canyon Rd begins through the residential neighborhoods around Laguna Lakes. At Isabella Way, the road winds its way along Prefumo Creek and up around the Irish Hills with gentle 2-4% grades.
After the creek crossing, the single lane road continues up through the canyon with steeper grades of 5-8% grades.
The winding road leads you out of the canyon with 11-12% grades to the open ridge line with gorgeous views of the surrounding chaparral-covered hills.
The road continues with steep sections of 14-16% grades and winds around the ridge to a wide open vista area.

Prefumo Canyon Rd continues westward through a scattering of newer residential homes and older cattle ranches with barns and farmhouses.
The road quickly drops down the other side of the canyon to a cattle guard crossing.
The pavement ends after the cattle guard crossing; it continues on packed dirt for the next 1.1 miles to the next cattle guard at See Canyon Rd.
The paved road on See Canyon Rd climbs up for a short pitch followed by a fun descent through the beautiful shaded canyon along the apple orchards to San Luis Bay.
Head south on San Luis Bay Dr to Avila Village.
Take the Bob Jones Trail from the parking lot area to Blue Heron Dr.
The road travels above the Avila Beach Golf Resort.
It re-connects with the Bob Jones Trail into Avila Beach.
Exit the trail onto Avila Beach Dr and head west along San Luis Obispo Bay to Port San Luis.
Head out on Hartford Pier and enjoy the gorgeous views of the bay!
Return on Avila Beach Dr towards the golf course.
Take the Bob Jones Trail and retrace steps back through the golf course to Blue Heron Dr.
Continue east on the Bob Jones Trail to its end at Ontario Rd.
Turn left and head north on Ontario Rd; the frontage road runs parallel to US-101 for the next 2.8 miles.
Continue north through the open farmlands and past the Historic Octagon Barn on S Higuera St.
Return west on Los Osos Valley Rd; the flat terrain goes through the open meadows, ranchlands and agricultural fields surrounding the expansive valley floor to Turri Rd.
Turri Rd stretches 4.7 beautiful miles from Los Osos Valley to Morro Bay. It begins with a gentle flat rolling stretch along the valley through the open ranchlands.
The climb up to Hinds Summit is 0.4 mile with an average grade of 5%.

The road winds around the back side of the ridge along Los Osos Creek to S Bay Blvd.
Turn left onto S bay Blvd for the short pitch up into Los Osos.
Return to the community park on Los Osos Valley Rd.
This is a wonderful ride along some of the country back roads from Los Osos out to Avila Beach and Morro Bay! The steep climb up Prefumo Canyon provides spectacular valley and bay views!
