The Delta is located in Northern California and is called the “Delta” because it forms a triangle of waterways from Sacramento (North) to Stockton (East) to Benicia (West), and Tracy to the South. *1

This bridge to bridges route rides along the expansive agricultural farmlands, orchards, ranches and gorgeous vineyards around the rich Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta region. It crosses over the scenic Sacramento River and its surrounding waterways from the river towns of Isleton and Walnut Grove to Grand Island and from Courtland, Hood, Galt, and Woodbridge to Thornton.

Begin this ride from the small town of Isleton and roll through Historic Chinatown on Main St to H St.

Head north on River Rd towards Isleton Bridge.

Continue straight onto Isleton Rd, the levee road provides grand views of the open farmlands and pastoral fields!

Turn right onto Andrus Island Rd, it cuts across the island and continues north along the west side of Georgiana Slough.

Turn right on Isleton Rd, cross the Georgiana Slough Bridge and turn left onto River Rd to the town of Walnut Grove.

Cross the green Walnut Grove Bridge over the Sacramento River and head north along the river on Hwy 160.

The turn on Leary Rd takes you southward across Grand Island to the junction at Hwy 220.

Continue across the island on Hwy 220 to the T junction at Grand Island Rd.

Head north on Grand Island Rd, the levee road winds along the east side of Steamboat Slough past the waterfront homes and Grand Island Mansion to Grand Island Vineyards.

Exit Grand Island and cross Steamboat Slough Bridge onto Hwy 160 N, it continues along the west side of the Sacramento River on Sutter Island.

Stay on Hwy 160 N, cross the river on Paintersville Bridge and continue on River Rd/Hwy 160 N to the town of Courtland.

Continue on River Rd and turn left onto Randall Island Rd. This short detour takes you along the pear orchards and packing facilities on the east side of the Sacramento River at the north end of Randall Island. The road loops back to River Rd.

Continue north on River Rd.

Head east on Hood Franklin Rd through the small town of Hood.

Cross over the Franklin Hood Rd Bridge, continue east through the farmlands and take the overpass over I-5 to the town of Franklin.

Turn right on Franklin Blvd, the road turns southward through the extensive ranching community.

Cross the RR tracks on Lambert Rd, it rolls across the open fields to Bruceville Rd.

Turn right and head south on Bruceville Rd past the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center and Franklin Field.

Jog left onto Twin Cities Rd, it turns eastward across the vineyards and farmlands.

Cross Twin Cities Rd Bridge over Cosumnes River and continue east through the expansive agricultural fields and orchards.

Turn right on Christensen Rd, it turns southward through the scattered homes and ranches along the west edge of Galt.

Take a quick jog on New Hope Rd and Sargent Ave to Kost Rd.

Kost Rd turns eastward through the residential subdivisions at the south edge of town.

Cross the Lower Sacramento Rd bridge and head south on Lower Sacramento Rd through the beautiful vineyards towards the town of Woodbridge.

The road continues across the Mokelumne River into Woodbridge with scenic views of Woodbridge Dam.

Stay on Lower Sacramento Rd heading south, cross over the Lodi Lake waterway and past Woodbridge Cemetery onto the town of Lodi.

Head west on Turner Rd, it travels through the estate wineries and vineyards along the Lodi Wine Trail.

Turn right on Ray Rd and continue meandering northward through the scenic valley vineyards.

Continue around the vineyards and orchards on Kile Rd.

Head north on Thornton Rd through the small town of Thornton.

The road name changes to Walnut Grove Rd as it turns westward across the scenic Delta farmlands.

Cross the Walnut Grove Bridge over the N Mokelumne River to stay on Walnut Grove Rd. It comes to a T junction at Race Track/River Rd in Walnut Grove.

Turn left and head south on Race Track Rd, it rolls through the open fields and vineyards around Tyler Island.

The road comes to a fork in the road, turn right onto Tyler Island Rd. It continues across Tyler Island with wonderful views of the fertile farmlands.

Tyler Island Rd turns southwards along the east side of Georgiana Slough with fantastic views of the waterway!

Cross Georgiana Slough on Tyler Island Bridge onto Tyler Island Bridge Rd. It cuts across Andrus Island through the Fertile Acres neighborhood.

Return on River Rd/Hwy 160 to Isleton.

This is a wonderful easy flat ride around the scenic Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta! You’ll enjoy the bridge crossings to the different islands, the glorious views of the Sacramento and Mokelumne Rivers and its surrounding waterways! Autumn is also a great time to view the colorful vineyards and orchards.
