I do love living in the SF Bay Area; it’s another gorgeous winter day! I’m leading my monthly GPC club ride up Mount Tamalpais; it’s one of my all-time faves!

I like to do this clock wise loop that starts in Mill Valley up through the residential neighborhoods nestled amid groves of redwoods. It’s a very serene kind of way to begin a ride.

The run up Panoramic Hwy is 4.5 miles up to the Pantoll Campground and hugs the SE edge of Mt Tamalpais State Park. Pantoll Rd takes us up to the Rock Springs parking lot. Take the time to enjoy the fabulous ocean views and sweeping landscape of the rolling mountain slopes.

East Ridgecrest Blvd goes all the way up to the summit of Mt Tam. The views from the summit are spectacular! From the vast ocean to the Marin County hills, San Francisco Bay, the East Bay hills and even Mount Diablo!

The loop continues on W Ridgecrest Blvd; this is one of the most beautiful roads in California! The rolling terrain on the ridge provides many opportunities to take advantage of the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, Stinson Beach, and the chaparral covered ridges and grasslands. You’ll love it!

Descend Bolinas Fairfax Rd through the redwood forest down to Alpine Lake. Continue on Bolinas Fairfax Rd up to Pine Mountain and descend into the town of Fairfax for a well-deserved snack stop at the Fat Angel Bakery or the Fairfax Scoop.

Return to Mill Valley along the designated bike route through the towns of San Anselmo, Ross, Kentfield, Larkspur and Corte Madera. The final climb up Chapman Dr followed by the descent on Camino Alto is a great way to complete this loop!

Thanks to everyone for joining me on this ride!
