This is a beautiful flat ride through Vaca Valley out to the orchards along Putah Creek Rd for lunch in Winters. The return includes riding through the flats along the orchards and agricultural fields to the rolling hills for the climb up the east side of Cantelow Rd.

We begin on Rivera Rd near the front entrance to Pena Adobe Park in Vacaville. The restrooms have been closed at the Pena Adobe Park for quite a while but you can ride over to the restrooms located around the Lagoon.

We cross over I-80 to Cherry Glen Rd and Pleasants Valley Rd. The 11.6 miles of flat rolling terrain on Pleasants Valley Rd takes you through Vaca Valley with fantastic views of the Vaca Mountains, the many orchards, grazing cattle, green grasslands, pastoral fields, ranches and much more. You just need to keep your eyes opened to your surroundings!

The flat 5 miles along Putah Creek Rd goes by Lake Solano and through the many orchards and farmlands into the town of Winters. Our lunch stop is at Steady Eddy’s on Main St. You can also have lunch at the Rotary Park located across the street. Water and restrooms are available at the park.

The post lunch route continues east on Putah Creek Rd and jaunts around all the flats roads along the orchards and vast agricultural fields SE of I-505. The turn on Timm Rd brings us to the rollers around the English Hills area to the climb up east Cantelow Rd.

Cantelow Rd is a 3.6 mile climb with an average grade of 3% and a few short steep pitches up to the ridge. The last 0.4 mile up to the summit is the steepest part with gradient ranges of 9-13% around the switchback to the top. You are rewarded with stunning views of the Sacramento valley and the surrounding mountains.

The descent on Cantelow drops us back into the valley on Pleasants Valley Rd for our return to Rivera Rd.

Thanks to everyone for joining me on this fun run through the valley and orchards for lunch in Winters!
