It’s another birthday ride! The group meets up at Dinucci’s in Valley Ford.

We head north on Hwy 1 onto Valley Ford-Freestone Hwy to Bodega Hwy and Bohemian Hwy. We ride past the quaint little town of Freestone on our way to Occidental. The descent on Bohemian is fast and fun.

We cross the green bridge over the Russian River into Monte Rio and continue on Hwy 116 to Austin Creek Rd. It’s a beautiful 8 mile loop along the creek and through the redwoods. It’s very quiet back here with minimal traffic. The return on Cazadero Hwy brings us back to Hyw 116.

Lunch is at the Gold Coast Bakery in Duncans Mills. The whole group takes up the rear patio area. It’s a nice place to sit and take in some sun while enjoying the birthday treats.

Our June babies: Pat, Deb, Carole, Margie, Jackie and Ann. ” HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

After lunch we head west on Hwy 116 towards Hwy 1. There is a moderate climb up to Goat Rock after you cross over the Russian River.

The most spectacular part of this ride is the run along the Sonoma Coast. It’s absolutely gorgeous out here! Wild flowers are in full bloom everywhere and the ocean views are stunning!

We continue through Bodega Bayon Hwy 1 and head south inland. There are several climbs ahead of us before we make the blasting descent back to Dinucci’s.

Thanks to Deb and Margie for leading this fabulous birthday ride! And another big thanks for the birthday treats!

~40 people in attendance with 3 tandems

47 miles with 2108′ of elevation gain

Weather: GREAT! Morning over cast skies giving way to brilliant sunshine. Starting temp in the mid 60’s and reaching the mid 70’s by mid afternoon. Breezy and a bit chilly along the coast.
